Why an educational project?
Pensionato Universitario Bertoni is not simply a place to sleep during your university years. Since 1951, the Stigmatine Congregation has offered its residents an educational project that supports every student in their personal, academic and spiritual growth.
Life at the Pensionato is shaped by dialogue, shared experiences and responsibility. The educational project is the thread that runs through this experience: not an imposed program, but a path each resident is invited to make their own, at their own pace and in their own way.
Three guiding principles
The educational project is built on three principles that guide community life and each resident's path of growth.
Self-care
Taking responsibility for yourself
Looking after your studies, your health, your personal growth. At the Pensionato, every resident is supported in developing self-awareness and a sense of responsibility, learning to manage their time and resources independently.
Giving of yourself
Putting your talents at the service of others
Generosity, service and active participation in community life. Living at the Pensionato also means being willing to share your time and skills with others, helping to create an environment where everyone feels welcomed and valued.
Recognizing others
Embracing and valuing differences
Recognizing the worth of every person, accepting differences and building relationships based on mutual respect. In a community with residents from diverse backgrounds, this principle is the foundation of daily coexistence.
Three dimensions of growth
The formative path develops along three complementary dimensions, each designed to enrich the university experience.
Relational dimension
Learning to work in teams, handle conflict constructively, and accept your own limits as well as those of others. Sports, shared activities and daily community life are the concrete opportunities for growing in relationships.
Cultural dimension
Fostering a creative synthesis of different fields of knowledge while nurturing curiosity towards the world and culture in its broadest sense. The exchange between students from different faculties, conferences, workshops and cultural visits enrich each person's education well beyond their own course of study.
Spiritual dimension
The inner growth of the person is at the heart of this dimension. The Pensionato offers spaces for reflection, personal guidance and volunteering opportunities. Inspired by Christian values and connected to the Parish of Santa Croce, it proposes moments of liturgy and sharing. This dimension is an open invitation, extended to students of all backgrounds and beliefs.
The formation method
The program develops across three levels through which we aim for the integral growth of the person.
Directed formation
Programs and pathways proposed by the Pensionato management: a personal relationship with the management, encouragement to uphold the educational project and house rules, and initiatives designed to support each student along their path.
Peer formation
The formation that arises naturally from community life itself. Daily exchange with other students, shared dinners, sports tournaments and group study sessions are all valuable opportunities for mutual learning.
Self-formation
The personal growth that each resident chooses to pursue independently. The Pensionato encourages every student to set their own goals and timelines, supported by the guidance of the management.
Student commissions
Residents at the Pensionato are not passive inhabitants but active protagonists of community life. Each year, two student commissions are formed with specific roles:
Logistics and recreation commission
Responsible for organizing recreational activities, sports tournaments, community dinners and the upkeep of shared spaces.
Cultural and spiritual commission
Coordinates cultural evenings, film screenings, initiatives and activities linked to the spiritual dimension.
Each commission includes at least 2 students per floor. Every commission elects a coordinator who liaises with the management. The mandate is annual and renewable once. Students propose and coordinate initiatives firsthand.
The formative year
The program follows the rhythm of the academic year, with dedicated periods for welcome, individual interviews and activities.
Welcome
A period of welcome for new residents. Group formation, settling into the community, and individual meetings with the management to plan the year ahead together.
Formative activities
The core phase for initiatives: cultural evenings, sports tournaments and community gatherings. The period when life at the Pensionato is at its most vibrant.
Mid-year interviews
A moment of individual dialogue with the management. Review of each student's personal growth path and life at the Pensionato.
Activities and deepening
Resumption of formative activities, cultural outings, preparation of end-of-year initiatives and continuation of the community program.
Year-end interviews
End-of-year assessment. Review of each student's personal growth path, evaluation of the community experience and decisions on readmission for the following year.
